My husband surprised me with a birthday/mother's day gift, a trip to Panama! What a great location and destination. Loved the variety in all of the pools. Something for everyone. Great that it has it's own kids area. Staff is extremely friendly and very motivated to do their best in the heat. Service is exceptional and they are very attentive. There was a water leak from one of the vats on the roof and because water was on our floor, they moved us immediately because of the noise of the vacuums. We were very surprised and what a surprise where we went! We had a different experience regarding a food issue and they were right there to correct and made huge leaps to improve. The staff, managers and service are fantastic. Clean and beautifully maintained, we will return with our children for sure. I highly recommend the hotel for a weekend or longer. We were there for 12 nights and would go again. The only thing I think the hotel needs to consider is changing their menu and upping the ante on that.

Rated 3 out of 5 by CrLs23 Worst management ever!!
I stayed one night on March 24-25 with my family. First of all, we had a good time at the hotel. We enjoyed the pools and the beautiful view from our balcony, additionally the rooms were clean and comfortable. Everything was good except for one issues we encountered during our stay and one at the end. The first issue we had was in the morning after breakfast when we wanted to use the pools and there were no chairs available by the pool side since people "booked" the chairs putting a towel or some belongings on it to occupy them but there were no people sitting on then and the chairs remained empty for about an hour. The pools were almost empty by the way, so the people occupying the chairs were not using the pools. This is not fair for people who "are actually" using the pools. I assume people just leave the towels there early in the morning and go back to their rooms or go to somewhere else.
The second and most upsetting issue was at check out. It took me almost two hours the whole process. There were some charges debited to my room incorrectly or by mistake. We ate at one restaurant and the receipt with my signature was there with my room summary. The girl at the concierge told me she needed to check those charges with the restaurant manager and needed to find the other signed receipt for those charges. I waited for 20 mins for the rest manager to show up just to look at the receipt charges without solving the problem. After 20 more mins of waiting, the hotel employee told me that management is still trying to solve the problem. Then after 20 more mins I was told that only accountant could dismiss the wrong charges. It seemed that some other guest accredited the charges to my room. More that one hour passed and nothing. After almost 1 hr and 40 mins another employee at the front desk finally told me that the mysterious charges were taken out and that I can finally pay for my room charges and check out.
All in all, this types of mistakes should be solved by the hotel management without having the guests waiting for so long. This was so upsetting for me and my family. I asked to speak to the manager but she never show her face to even apologize for the hotel mistake and the long waiting. I think the general manager at the moment was Mayra but can't remember her last name. I have been to many hotels and never had any issues of this kind on the room charges or any charges debited by mistake. All other issues were solved promptly by management at the moment and had received apologies by the personnel and managers, unlike this manager at the Westin.
This is very upsetting and ridiculous and ruined the whole day for me and my family!!
Hopefully "real" management could take care of this issues without affecting any guests. This is an hotel mistake and should be solved by the hotel without holding the guests.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Baxter60 Amazing people and resort
The resort is just like the pictures - amazing property and scenery. But what really is outstanding is the hotel staff. Everyone we came in contact with was genuinely happy to see you and looked forward to assisting you. The pool area is great. The Executive lounge is outstanding and one of the best we have experienced. This was one of the best holidays and hotel experiences we have enjoyed. Thank you to all the staff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amanda201 Top notch hotel for spg platinums
Had an excellent stay at the westin over New Year's Eve. This hotel did an excellent job to cater to spg platinums. Upgraded to a suite at check in, excellent club lounge with full breakfast, including Bloody Mary and mimosas, evening hours d'ourves with a decent wine and beer selection. The hotel has 4 pools which provide ample space for all guests and even has an exclusive platinum area of the pool reserved to spg elites, where complimentary cold bottled waters are provided throughout the day.
Overall had an excellent and relaxing stay at the hotel, staying 5 nights without even leaving the hotel. My only small critique would be that the hotel doesn't discourage guests from getting up early and reserving multiple pool chairs (5+) only to return late in the afternoon to actually use the seats.
Definitely recommend for anyone, and especially spg elites,

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nickster57 Hard For those with gluten allergies or vegan lifestyles
Great accommodations but it is costly to leave the hotel for other restaurants ($50 round trip) and only mode of travel is their taxi system. Therefore, it would be helpful if the Westin could get gluten and dairy free items in their restaurants, educate their staff and provide more items in their Executive Lounge. The staff is somewhat limited in their English (and we in our Spanish) so each meal is painful to explain and one has to hope not to be contaminated. Food often comes from the main kitchen and the staff cannot tell if the sauces have gluten etc. The Westin as a whole could step up their game by educating staff and labelling food. In the Executive Lounge this morning their was another couple having the same issue as we were. The lounge is a treat but not when you cannot eat most items. With just a little knowledge items can easily be modified. The Asiana restaurant for instance has no gluten free soy sauce, making the entire sushi restaurant off limits. We have not had as difficult a time at other Westins in other countries as we have here and this one with its remote location could easily be more accommodating should they choose. In the future, we probably will need to stay closer to downtown and restaurants that can better accommodate food sensitivities, that said, most restaurants in this day and age can modify their foods more easily then here.
